Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is a tragic and costly epidemic, which continues to worsen due to models oriented toward short-term stabilization rather than sustained recovery. Steadfast Health makes SUD treatment accessible across the care continuum—from hospital, ER, and outpatient consultations to same-day virtual or walk-in appointment availability. Meeting patients where they are, Steadfast enrolls them in a holistic care model when their potential to engage is the highest, addressing a critical need gap and driving long-term patient recovery.

Brittany’s is the story of one who got away. A 37-year old single mother on Medicaid, Brittany struggled with SUD. Despite multiple hospital readmissions for complications from IV drug use, she was never offered SUD treatment proven to dramatically reduce her risk of relapse and death. Instead, her doctors only suggested she find a "rehab" after discharge, leaving her in excruciating withdrawal which resulted in her leaving the hospital and returning to use. Steadfast provides life-saving, same-day treatment in settings like these while continuing comprehensive, compassionate, longitudinal care in the outpatient setting through sustained recovery.

During his internal medicine residency, Mac realized that the disparities in care in the U.S. were at times as egregious as less developed parts of the world, where he had previously worked — especially when it came to SUD. “We would see patients come in because of an underlying SUD and ignore it,” he says, “hoping that they would find their way into treatment somewhere else.” His goal was to eventually provide those patients better treatment. Working with TAP, this goal is becoming a reality. Mac and his team are working to bring the academic gold standard of SUD treatment to underserved populations — with the ultimate goal of transforming addiction care on a national scale. “Our aim is to make worldclass academic SUD care as accessible as any other medical care,” Mac says.
With experience in a variety of operational and investing roles across the healthcare ecosystem, Will had been in search of an opportunity that had the right overlap of business strategy and mission. When he was recruited by TAP to lead Steadfast Health, the puzzle pieces fell into place. “I’m super excited about what we are building here,” says Will. He points to the fact that TAP leadership are operators themselves and have a genuine missional orientation, an attractive differentiation in the market. “They have built and scaled mission-oriented companies that have prioritized culture and patient care,” Will says, “leading to a depth of knowledge and support that’s very different from other startup environments.”
